Stepping out of one’s comfort zone can be a wonderful thing.
To trust enough to do so…
Last week I did that - I hosted a wellness brunch filled with wonderful people that I truly respect and admire and we had such a great time.

Talking about the wonders of good food and the incredible connection it can bring us.

Me talking about my Conscious Cooking course and how much it’s changed my life. A life where I never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing.

Our minds are clever things but they love to keep us stuck and learning all I’ve learnt and practised has enabled me to be who I am today - this is why I love teaching the way I do.

It’s more than just cooking, it’s about how you show up in the world.
Your way of being and creating real change around how you eat and see yourself.

Three things I didn’t think I would be doing in my forties… and yet, here we are!

I suppose that’s the thing about getting older. We can spend so much time imagining what our future might look like, but the reality is, we have absolutely no idea what’s around the corner.

Some of it will be wonderful. Some of it won’t be what we expected. And maybe part of embracing this next chapter is simply being open to change, taking the rough with the smooth and remembering that we don’t have to have everything figured out.

Would love to know…What are you doing now that you never imagined you’d be doing at this stage of your life? ⬇️

Face yoga: Don’t knock it until you try it! I honestly hadn’t given it a second thought until I had a conversation with Philippa from @luminousfaceyoga for the Midlife Answers podcast. I was curious, gave it a go and now I’m completely hooked.

It’s become a little bit of ‘me time’ that I squeeze in before the demands of the day start or before bed. One minute or ten, it doesn’t have to be time-consuming and I can genuinely see and feel a difference in my skin. My Botox, if you like! If you’re curious, have a listen to episode 34.

Coffee: I have been an avid green tea drinker for as long as I can remember. I loved the smell of coffee but hated the taste, so had accepted I was never going to be a coffee drinker.

Then one day, I decided to give it another go… and my taste buds had changed! Now it’s my daily 11 o’clock hit, much to my husband’s surprise, considering he has only ever known me as the person who drinks green tea!

I suppose it just goes to show that change really can happen at any stage.

And finally, hearing aids: I put off having my hearing tested for years because, if I’m being completely honest, I had that ridiculous belief that hearing aids were for “old” people.

How wrong I was. I don’t exactly love wearing them, but I also can’t imagine being without them now. And there is something incredibly freeing about no longer having to pretend you’ve heard what someone has said when, actually, you haven’t got a clue!

This might be my favourite moment from the entire conversation with Philippa @luminousfaceyoga

In a world that constantly tells women to look younger, this felt like such a refreshing reminder:

✨ Ageing is a privilege.
✨ Nobody is looking at us as closely as we look at ourselves.
✨ Fill your life with purpose, joy and the things that make you feel good.

What does “ageing well” mean to you? I would love to hear your thoughts ⬇️

Most of us understand that we can strengthen the muscles in our body... but did you know the same principle applies to the muscles in our face?

In this clip, face fitness expert Philippa Mitchell @luminousfaceyoga explains why facial muscles are different, how face yoga works, and why she describes toned facial muscles as the “scaffolding” that supports our skin.

It certainly made me think differently about ageing and what we can do naturally to support our skin in midlife.

❤️ Drop a heart in the comments if you’d be willing to give face yoga a try. I think you will love it!

In a world obsessed with chasing eternal youth, this is a conversation every woman needs to hear 📣

What does it really mean to age well? And can we still want to look and feel our best without feeling pressured to “fix” ourselves?

This conversation challenged a lot of my own thinking around ageing, beauty, and what a natural midlife face even looks like today.

Philippa, founder of @luminousfaceyoga and I talk face yoga, sagging skin, stress, confidence, unrealistic expectations, and why there’s no right or wrong way to approach ageing.

Spent the evening getting younger and sipping English Sparkling Wine?!!

Who KNEW that Bishops Stortford had a gorgina Stunita vineyard?! You can go for tastings and tours or just for a glass of vino🥹

& esp for a sensitive skin girlie like moi, finding Face Yoga is a GIFT🙏🏼

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to an evening at @baileyhillswine in Bishops Stortford - and what an evening it was.

Hosted by @luminousfaceyoga , it was equal parts gorgeous setting, incredible English sparkling wine, and something completely new to me - face yoga.

I also learned so much about British sparkling wine that evening and honestly? It’s going to be my new go-to. We really do have something special on our doorstep.

My face genuinely ached the next day (in the best way) from exercises I could so easily slot into my daily routine. And it got me thinking - in this modern age we’re so quick to reach for the next product or gadget, yet something as simple and natural as working out your face can give you a longer, more fulfilling result.

Feeling very fortunate to have been in a room full of such wonderful people that evening. ✨

⠀
I had no idea I had so much tension in my face muscles until I tried face yoga!
⠀
Recently I was invited to try face yoga in a luxurious vineyard in Bailey Hills Estates in Bishops Stortford
⠀
I wanted to start doing face exercises for ages but didn’t know where to start so this was excellent timing
⠀
Phillippa from luminous face yoga showed us some lifting and tension releasing exercises and we all had a go at practicing them in front of the mirrors. My fav exercise was kissing the sky!
Now I am hooked and will be doing this routine daily. Make sure to follow them @luminousfaceyoga to discover more! They even have an App!
⠀
To finish the girly evening we tasted some gorgeous local sparking wine and I promised myself to be back for one of the Bailey Hills vineyard @baileyhillswine Summer events!

When @luminousfaceyoga invites you to @baileyhillswine you say yes 👏 (PR invite)

The neck air kiss move was my favourite (combined with the 2022 sparking rosé 🍾 )

Face yoga at a vineyard?! 🤪🍾 we needed to find out more…

We joined the lovely Philippa from @luminousfaceyoga at @baileyhillswine in Bishop’s Stortford for an evening of face yoga & English sparkling wine tasting 🥂

We loved learning all of Philippa’s secrets to a natural facelift and what we found really interesting during the workshop was discovering how much tension we hold in our faces without even realising it; especially in the jaw, between the brows, neck and shoulders.

There were definitely a few giggles during the facial exercises 😂 such a fun and unique experience in a truly beautiful setting.

Bailey Hills Vineyard is a must visit! They have lots of lovely events coming up, so definitely keep an eye on their socials 👀

Tag a friend you’d love to try some face yoga with and follow @hidden.herts for more unique experiences in Hertfordshire!

I went live recently… and there was 1 person watching 😅

Had a slight wobble, that self-doubt voice creeping in… “is this even worth it?”

At the time I was so in it I didn’t zoom out. But it’s such a common feeling, I know I’m not the only one who’s been there.

Philippa @luminousfaceyoga said something that really stuck with me:

“If someone watched your working day, would they believe you were serious about where you want to get to?”

And that’s kind of it.

It’s so easy to fill the day with the safe stuff. The busy stuff. The things that look productive but don’t actually move anything forward.

What I really respect about Philippa is she’s built Luminous Face Yoga by just consistently showing up, sharing, doing the work…even when it’s uncomfortable.

So next time you catch yourself thinking “I’ll do that later”… or sticking with what feels easy - think of what could be, and make it happen.

Because it’s the uncomfortable bits that actually shift things.

You’ve got this 🤍
