April is Filipino Food Month 🇵🇭

And if you know anything about Filipino culture… you know food is never just food.

It’s how we connect.
It’s how we show love.
It’s how we take care of each other.

Sitting around the table with Jocelyn, the founders of Lumpia Cup, and Luna and her husband from Luna’s Lumpia, sharing a meal they prepared for us, it turned into something more than just great food.

It turned into stories.

Comfort foods that take you back to childhood.
Dishes your parents or grandparents made that you can never quite replicate the same way.
The meals that just hit different because of who made them.

For me, it’s dinuguan. For others, sinigang, kare kare… and for some, it’s simply anything their mom makes.

And then there’s this.

Growing up, sometimes “I’m sorry” didn’t come out as words.
It came out as, “Did you eat?”

Because in Filipino culture, food is the language.

It’s how we show up for each other.
It’s how we make things right.
It’s how we stay connected.

Grateful for moments like this. Good food, good people, and a reminder of where we come from.

This is Luna’s Lunpias in Poway, CA. Family owned Filipino fusion restaurant that absolutely hits the mark across the board.

Had the pleasure of meeting these wonderful humans during the @lumpiacup and MAN. They make some of the best Filipino food I’ve had yet.

Rex and Luna have something special with Luna’s Lunpias.

And that UBE tres leches had me HOOKED from the first bite.

Still smiling from the Lumpia Cup and all the incredible moments packed into one day.

From spending time with players and organizers, to hitting the green alongside the teams, this event was a meaningful celebration of culture, connection, and community. It was especially powerful to see a representative from the Senator’s office recognizing the tournament and honoring the organizers who continue to pour so much into making it happen.

Events like this are a reminder of how much heart, history, and pride live within our community. The Lumpia Cup brings people together in such a special way, and we’re grateful to be part of it alongside so many passionate leaders, families, and neighbors.

So many moments. So much joy. So much to celebrate.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, players, and everyone who showed up and made this day unforgettable.

What an incredible weekend at the Lumpia Cup. 🇵🇭⛳️

Jay and I were honored to be part of this amazing tournament for the second year in a row, celebrating Filipino culture, community, and a little friendly competition, all while giving back to an important cause that supports children in the Philippines.

From cruising around on golf carts, connecting with so many great people, and talking everything from favorite Filipino dishes to golf swings to beach house vs golf course debates, the energy all day long was so special.

And yes, it came down to a nail-biter playoff as Team Lomahan defended their title. Proud to say they pulled out the win, but truly, the real win is being part of a community that shows up with so much heart.

Huge congratulations to @happyhourgolfclub and @gainmana for putting on such a meaningful and well-run event. You should be incredibly proud. And how special to see this tournament recognized by @senbrianjones for uplifting and bringing together the Filipino community.

Already looking forward to next year and many more to come.
