Wake up with intent. Before your feet hit the floor, decide what kind of athlete you’re building. Discipline begins before the workout and before anyone is watching.

Train with purpose, not ego. Every run, lift, ruck, and repetition should build strength, endurance, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Test your body in ways it has never been tested before. Push beyond familiar discomfort through disciplined training to understand your limits, expand them, and learn how you respond when conditions become difficult.

When fatigue sets in and your mind starts negotiating for comfort, stay focused on the objective. Control your breathing. Control your thoughts. Complete the task.

Even if the outcome is not what you wanted, use it. Failure, setbacks, and weaknesses are feedback and opportunities to identify what needs improvement, refine your approach, and return stronger than before.

Train to be useful and dependable. Stay disciplined, capable and mission ready.

“It kind of breaks your heart, but at the same time it helps you realize how great America is,” Walker said. “The reason America is great is because people have been willing to pay that price.”

The third annual LU Murph Challenge was held at the Liberty University Indoor Track & Field Complex Saturday, Nov. 15 to honor fallen hero, Lt. Michael P. Murphy.

Murphy served as a U.S. Navy SEAL and lost his life on June 28, 2005, during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan. This yearly intense CrossFit workout honors Murphy’s favorite exercises, framed by two 1-mile runs and consisting of 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 air squats in between.

More than 600 students participated in this year’s event to raise money and awareness for veterans. The challenge allowed participants to compete in different heats. In some heats, students wore a weighted military vest, and there were also unweighted and team competitions. The challenge also offered a non-competitive option for students.

The LU Murph Challenge raised more than $30,000 this year and has raised $85,000 in total over the past two years.

Three years ago, I came home from my first deployment. What followed tested my resiliency, faith, and mental health in ways I never saw coming.

This past weekend, I stood in front of a couple hundred people at the Freedom Uncensored Gala, sharing my story for the first time. Talking openly about the battles that don’t leave visible scars and how faith became the foundation that pulled me through.

The 2025 @lumurphchallenge motto is “Not about me.” And that couldn’t be more true.

If my story can remind even one veteran, service member, or anyone struggling that you’re not alone, that God still has a plan for you, even in the darkest seasons, then every challenge was worth it.

It’s not about the struggle.
It’s about the story God writes through it.

Had the honor of running in the Color Guard for the 2025 @va10miler — a race tradition since 2001. Even in the rain, it was an unforgettable experience 🇺🇸

Later I got the call to jump in on a mixed-doubles CrossFit comp style workout. Met my partner and we crushed it! For someone not super deep into CrossFit, I’m proud of how it went — another fun challenge in the books. Thank you to @crossfitlynchburg

Wrapped up week one of a new structured training plan as we prep for what’s next. Still chasing growth — mentally, spiritually, and physically — every single day.
