5J Jamón Ibérico de Bellota.

Aged for three years and carved to order on a jamonero in our front window, in a traditional culinary ritual.

Each paper-thin slice allows the delicate marbling to soften at room temperature and reveal the extraordinary depth of flavour that makes Cinco Jotas so revered.

London restaurants Setember trip. Best: @wiltons_restaurant (always good-and yes that is a piece of crackling with the roast pork) and @noblerotmayfair (the best of the trip). New find: @forzawinebar (check it out in Soho). Disappointing: @francoslondon (great service and wine by the glass-ok food except for an amazing Tiramisu) and @lurraw1 (great Ribeye Steak, Jamón Ibérico and Basque/Spanish wine-weak service).

09.09.26🇬🇧 @lurraw1 with @mariannasgsg for lunch! Thank you for making it, considering your arduous journey from Singapore. The flight was diverted to Frankfurt then Paris due to shut down of air traffic control in the UK! Finally, arrived at 4.30am by coach and met us at 12noon! Amazing!🙇🏽‍♀️ After lunch I met up with @rosemariemortimer @zanna_w for a little retail therapy and then onto @thenedlondon or drinks and dinner. A good time was had by all and @zanna_w, in particular, was propositioned by a very handsome gentleman!! 🤭 thank you for the invitation to met up! Such fun!

A new find in London (kind of). Last year, Renee and I ate at a Basque steakhouse in the City of London named Ibai. It was excellent but very high end (and really more for large groups/business dinners). Eleanor found another Basque steakhouse in London’s Marylebone neighborhood (near Mayfair): Lurra. Turns out it is owned by the owners of Ibai — but much more casual. And just as good — if not better — because of its more casual atmosphere. We shared a Bone-In Ribeye (simply amazing), Grilled Artichokes with Minced Jamón Ibérico, Feo de Tudela Tomato Salad (like Creole Tomatoes), Roasted Red Peppers, and a piece of Burnt Basque Cheesecake (as good as it looks). We each had a refreshing Gin and Tonic and wines by the glass with dinner (Spanish Red Rioja and Priorat) If you like steak, and are in London, go to Lurra (or to Ibai for a more upscale experience). Clearly, I need to go to the Basque region! @lurraw1 #londonrestaurants #londonfood #basquesteak #basquerestaurant #nolafoodie
