better late than never… wow, what a beautiful memory. Happy National Dance Day to all, and thank you to this community for gathering together to celebrate dance. This performance was 2 years ago, I know. And, a lot of the people pictured have graduated to different areas of life, i know. They say take a picture, it’ll last longer. well, i’m really grateful that i took a few 🌺 photographer 📸: @dtdamiani - Creator in Residence Performance Gather Together a dance work by world renowned choreographer Robert Battle May 9th 7pm May 10th 2:30pm, 7pm Warch Campus Center, Esch and Hurvis Studios, Level Il free and open to the public Creator in Residence (CIR) is brand-new programming for Lawrence University. CIR brings one expert guest artist in a year to collaborate, conversate, and share in the making of a new creative work. We are honored to feature the choreographic vision of the first Creator in Residence, Robert Battle, world-renowned choreographer and most recent former Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Battle’s work challenges dancers to inhabit space with explosive clarity, fierceness, and imagination. His presence in this process has expanded the collaborative landscape of our dance program, inspiring students to move with power, dedication, and joy. The cast consists of thirteen undergraduates representing 15 majors spanning first years, Posse scholars, graduating seniors, Conservatory musicians, and LU athletes, as well as one dance minor alumna. Lawrence University Conservatory professor Loren Kiyoshi Dempster collaboratively composed the music and professor Jean Carlo Ureña Gonzalez’s percussion studio will create a musical prelude. We are thrilled to share this work with you.

Hi everyone! Did you miss us? Because we missed you! We are excited to showcase the LU Dance Team Board! 💙🤍 Hi everyone I’m Amell, I am so excited to be captain again this year and showcase so much more this year! I won’t be here fall term but I know my two co-captains will be holding it down! But best believe we coming in hot this year! I’m from Brooklyn, Ny and majoring in Business Entrepreneurship. I’m a nail tech as well @loversglam.therabeauty so if you don’t see me the dance studio catch me in my studio! I’m also VP for BSU! Will be missing the team and cheering them on from London this fall! Hi my name is Freddery, yours truly. I’m excited to be a captain for the LU dance team again this year. I’ve been on the team since my freshman year. Through dance I have been able to express myself and move my body in ways I never have before. This is also my senior year, so I definitely want to leave with a BANG! I hope to see you all at our performances 💋 Heyy everyone!! My name is Jasmine and I’m one of the Dance Team Co-Captains this year! I’ve been a Captain before so I’m really excited to come back bigger, better & braver for my team. As a last note, please try out for the team!! Trust me everyone can dance, we are ALL full of potential!! 🎉 Hi! My name is Nell and I am a junior at Lawrence and from Chicago. I am double majoring in Environmental Studies and Film Studies. I am also the secretary on the dance team and super excited to perform at the halftime show this fall! Hii, I’m Jaiyana and im the dance team’s treasurer for the 2nd year in a row! Along with dance, my interests are music (post hardcore, rap, r&b, etc.), film, fashion, and writing! I am apart of BSU here on campus along with being a film minor and english major. I joined dance team my freshman year and have grown to love it more and more each year. I love all things creative and plan to keep creating in the form of screenwriting once I leave Lawrence! hiii my name is Kris, this is my second year on the team and I’ve loved every second of it! It has really helped me step out my comfort zone and expand my creativity 🤸‍♂️
