The latest BTS–Grammys controversy is getting very heated. BTS announced that they will not submit their music for consideration at the 2027 Grammys, after the Recording Academy introduced a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. The members said they want their music to be judged for its artistry rather than being separated by region or language. The decision sparked huge discussion among ARMYs and the wider music industry, and the Recording Academy has now said it will take the criticism into consideration and may reconsider the new category. It’s basically become a debate about whether creating a separate Asian category gives more recognition to Asian artists—or unintentionally keeps them outside the Grammys’ main categories.
