As part of a new series, we’re travelling to all our partner clubs to immerse ourselves fully in a matchday on their home turf. First up, @hrbfc1921. It was a glorious spring day that very much felt as though it could have been a pre-season affair, such was the weather.

Like many at The Bev, we took our dog and were made to feel instantly welcome. We sampled the best chips we’ve had at a ground this season. We can’t say if we had a beer or two as we were there strictly in a professional sense.

The game itself went the way of the hosts, but what stuck out more than the result was the energy and enthusiasm of their young ultras. It felt infectious for the rest of the stadium.

Hampton & Richmond are getting a lot right this season, as their growing attendances attest. But more than anything that happens on the pitch, it felt like you’d go to The Bev and enjoy it.

As you leave the stadium, there’s time for a can before jumping on the train. Just before that, you’ll pass a bench with the words ‘Happy Days’ inscribed on it.
