Last year on this day, @lux_interna_official released their latest, fifth album "New Wilderness Gospel".
Available on vinyl and as 2CD artbook
"New Wilderness Gospel" presents a spectral tapestry – woven from the deep twang of desert blues, the ghostly echoes of Appalachian folk and gospel, the eerie shimmer of psychedelia and post-punk, and the raw intensity of American Gothic balladry. Beneath it all, warped traces of 1960s girl pop and 1980s new wave flicker like distant radio signals, barely breaking through the static. It is a sound both timeworn and time-lost – haunted by memory, but restless, always reaching forward.

🌟RR SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW🌟

Today we share a Rejected Religion Spotlight: A Conversation with Kathryn Ian & Joshua Gentzke from LUX INTERNA (@lux_interna_official)

@rejectedreligion

🔥INTERVIEW NOTES🔥
“This interview explores the deep interplay between Joshua’s academic article “Letting the Dark Have Its Day” and his musical project with Lux Interna, New Wilderness Gospel. Both bodies of work investigate darkness not as absence or evil, but as a generative space of transformation, and wilderness not as something merely aesthetic, but as a vital dimension of human existence. Together with Kathryn’s shadow-infused photography, the conversation traces how philosophical ideas of unknowing, revelation, and ecological awareness are translated into sound, image, and story.

The dialogue moves through themes of mysticism, ecology, and myth—drawing on Jacob Böhme’s notion of the Ungrund, Wendell Berry’s invitation to “know the dark,” and the crisis of relationality between humans and the more-than-human world. The interview also touches on symbolic numerology, the role of technology as both interference and revelation, and the archetypal figures woven into the album’s mythic narrative. Finally, Joshua and Kathryn reflect on their collaborative process and how engaging with darkness and wilderness has reshaped their lives, not only as artists but as human beings seeking resonance and renewal.”
