Full circle moment! This warranted a post! When i 1st met Nate and his family i was brand new to the community i didn’t know who was who nor did i care. My job was to make this little guy the best player possible. Our 1st private session was one to remember! Imagine going into a private session with 10 family members ( Maybe more lol) watching your every move. They weren’t there to spy or to interrupt. They were there to support and to make Nate feel comfortable and safe. You could imagine my nervousness and overwhelming feeling of having such a crazy audience, but I accepted the challenge. What made Nathan so distinct was his cute little glasses. Here goes this energetic little man with glasses but Little did he know that those classes were going to be what identified him as a player. As he grew older and we started playing tournaments, He was the best player on the floor. Everyone was saying who is this little kid with glasses. Coaches will say cover glasses lol that was his identifier. Why do I bring this story up is because he didn’t let the glasses put him down, he made the glasses work as his superpower. This is an amazing lesson to learn to every child in the world that your appearance or your deficiencies don’t make who you are. Those deficiencies make you stronger and make you a better person. I look now and the player that I have impacted so much is now giving back and it makes me proud to say that I was his coach HIS 1st COACH. I decided to work with children for a living for this exact reason and that’s to see moments like this that make it all worthwhile. Nathan, I’m proud of you and I will always be here for you. That award that you just received made my day and it’s something that will impact the world forever. Coach LVD.
