Over the last few days @_aholliday_ has done an amazing job sharing recaps from the lions share of the trip with @davehord / @formulaphoto as they took his 1928 Model A (featured in @hagerty magazine) from Calgary, Alberta to Kamloops, BC.

After resting for a night in Kamloops Andrew Holiday handed the photographic reigns over to myself as i would accompany @davehord down roads that as someone who grew up in Lillooet, were near and dear to my heart.

I learned to drive on the Duffy Lake road, and had my first "real" job there in the late 90s working for BC fisheries doing stream surveys from Pemberton to Seaton Lake.

Dave and I embarked under an incredible cool sunrise, and with empty roads ahead we made our way through the gold rush country of Cache Creek, over highway 99 (one of my top 3 driving roads in BC) to Lillooet, where we stopped for gas and were warned quite adamantly by locals that what we were about to do was bordering on insanity.

We were aware.

And as the Model A took off slowly up the winding ascent into the Duffy Lake corridor, we only had to stop twice for overheating, and of course, a couple nostalgia stops, as we have been using this road for @classiccaradventures tours for over a decade.

The descent into Pemberton was nerve wrecking, that last set of switch backs well known to locals as car killers. But Dave made it look easy, and as we stopped by Lillooet Lake he proudly adorned the A with a survival sticker, and we parted ways, me heading back to Kamloops with a full memory card and a lot of new memories, and Dave onwards to Vancouver. Signifying the end of the journey.

Taking the Scenic Route.

A few snaps from a day spent with @davehord as he took his 1928 Model A - picked up a few days prior in Calgary with @warwickpatterson and @_aholliday_ to document his journey across two mountain ranges and an interior grassland in a previously not running pre war vehicle.

The day started under a gorgeous sunrise and we made our way across the grasslands to Lillooet via Cache Creek with relatively smooth sailing, it was when we stopped to fill up with gas at the @lightfootkitchen01 gas station that we started to get approached by locals asking us if we knew what was ahead. We assured them we were very experienced with the Duffey Lake Road, and as we set off to bewildered expressions and head shakes, we couldn't help but feel a strong mix of excitement and trepidation.

We were however, as was the point, taking the Scenic Route.

I said goodbye to Dave in Pemberton to make my way back over the road I had learned to drive on decades ago growing up in Lillooet, I thought to myself that was an experience I doubt ill ever repeat, and what an incredible one to have done so.
