Introducing this week’s #Skatescenespotlight with rollerskater @_julesross! Jules has been on wheels all her life—she first got on a skateboard at age six thanks to her cousin—but didn’t find roller skating specifically until 2.5 years ago.

Growing up in the Bay Area, she moved to Boston before falling into a rough patch. Stumbling upon Lynch Family Skatepark was the start of her journey out of addiction, “From that night forward, I started skating again. Rollerskating is where I found my family. It’s my love and my life.”

She wasn’t always skilled on quad wheels. With a naive fearlessness, Jules “dropped straight into Lynch’s pro bowl and immediately slammed.” It wasn’t easy—many months passed before she felt comfortable on roller skates. But community kept her going: “My crew…cheered for every wobbly attempt, every bruising fall, every small victory.”

In 2024, the Lynch roller skate community—including @alexi_shreds, @charzillaskate, @bean.daddyy, and more—happened to grow away from Lynch. This lack of community hit Jules hard, who ultimately ended up in rehab.

When she returned to skating, “the isolation was brutal.” Instead of giving up, she formed the Saucy Posse group via a simple call on Instagram. Now an 80-member-strong collective of women, queer, trans, and nonbinary skaters, Jules “hasn’t skated alone once since starting the group.”

Even if she leaves Boston, Jules wants to make sure “this community [that] has given me purpose when needed most” thrives and helps support others. She wants “the next generation to know: you do belong here.”

In closing, Jules is determined “to build the Lynch Girls Skate Community into something that cannot be ignored, cannot be diminished, and cannot be destroyed...That's the trick I'm really working on.”

Do you know of a skater we should feature in the next skate scene spotlight? DM us or nominate folx in the comments. We advocate for all park users, and the CRC proudly supports the local skate and street art community. All are welcome at Lynch Family Skatepark—learn more in our bio. 🎨
