A BIG congratulations to our Physio’s Josie Wilson and Lyndon.

Josie and Lyndon both work for Avondale FC within the national premier league. Lyndon with the senior men’s NPL while Josie is with senior women’s NPL

Both teams made the grand final and won this weekend!!

This is the first time in Victorian history where the same club has won the NPL grand finals for both men and women’s in the same year!

Josie and Lyndon have put in the hard work to support the players this year to achieve this success. Well done all.

So much of what this group does happens behind the scenes — early mornings, late nights, planning, testing, analysing, treating, programming, monitoring, communicating and constantly looking for ways to make our players and teams better.

The hours aren’t always seen. The sacrifices aren’t always recognised. But the impact is felt every time our players step onto the pitch.

Not all footballers experience the same game loads

Even when players compete in the same match for the same duration, the physical demands can vary significantly.

Some athletes are repeatedly exposed to substantially higher volumes of high-speed running, sprinting, accelerations and decelerations than others.

At Avondale FC, our High Performance Department uses evidence-based monitoring to understand the individual demands placed on each player, helping us:

✅ Improve performance
✅ Manage fatigue
✅ Reduce injury risk
✅ Support player availability
✅ Guide return-to-play decisions
✅ Individualise training and recovery strategies

The above highlights benchmark match demands for both male and female footballers and reinforces the importance of understanding what is "normal" for each athlete.
