“maybe your ‘inconsistent’ style isn’t a problem. maybe it’s evidence you’re actually evolving.”👀

this came up inside the Business of Art community recently and honestly the whole thread felt like a collective exhale.

one artist shared she feels guilty about changing style constantly and worries her artistic statement keeps shifting. and then the room responded with artists sharing that the inconsistency is the work, that if you lay all your pieces out together there’s always a thread running through them even when the surface looks chaotic, and that you are not handcuffed to a style just because you’ve done it before. one of our teachers said if she’d stayed loyal to her first style she’d still be a fashion illustrator.

being at the beginning, inconsistent, still finding your thing….that’s not a red flag. that’s just being in motion.
if this is relatable, you’re exactly who The Business of Art was built for. waitlist is in the bio. 🔗
