oh lord, where to begin. Black shows need to be done more often. In this process I’ve realized that black shows can 100% be done, all it takes is some searching. Talent comes from anywhere, no joke. Our director spent a solid two month finding our cast but she did it nonetheless and this should be a message that yes, in theater black shows can be done all it takes is some searching. With that point aside, hands down my favorite cast ever. EVER. Yea EVER. Black people are the best, they are my favorite people to be around and I will not forget this show and all I learned from these incredible individuals. These people made me feel right at home and I thank each and every one of them for it. I love everyone involved, the crew was incredible and I can’t thank them enough. Our incredible director as I’ve stated took on something not easy and she executed it so well. Th am you Toni. It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with you all and I will miss you all. Keep acting! Keep directing Keep being you! Keep inspiring others! Love u all 🇳🇬

A RAISIN IN THE SUN🌞

Written by Lorraine Hansberry
Directed by Toni Lynd

“I WOULDN’T MARRY GEORGE MURCHISON IF HE WAS ADAM AND I WAS EVE!”

Third production this year, and my first show to perform ten times instead of five. Crazy how I read this play in high school; little did I know lmao. The Raisin experience has been so chaotic, but we made it THROUGH. I’m so proud of the friends I’ve made and grateful for the love I’ve received from the community. The obstacles I’ve encountered made it hard to feel the love and I almost lost my way, but I remembered I do what I do so others don’t lose themselves. So people can leave the theatre feeling seen and heard, even if it’s for a brief moment. Chino, thank you for welcoming me with open arms once again. See ya soon.

The Queen of the Nile,

Beneatha Younger♥️🩺

Five years ago today would be the last time I spoke to my Uncle John. I was very blessed to have had a FaceTime call with him before he died. I still can’t quite comprehend how he was well enough to talk to me, but then died, just as he said he would. “This is it,” he said. It’s always this indescribable feeling (heartrending? weird?) when the anniversary of John’s death rolls around each year because it is on the eve of Chrisy’s birthday. He died May 3, 2020, and Chrisy was born on May 4th. Three years after he died, my dear friend Karimy actually died on my wife’s actual birthday. It’s been a tough five years of interrogating all types of grief. All this to say that I do get into the deep “feels” around this time as I still try very hard to make my wife’s birthday a joyful occasion, which it indeed is! So, today I am sharing these never-before-posed photos of my Uncle John with my wife, or as John would always say, “Your beautiful bride!” One of the many great things about John was that he adored Chrisy from the moment I started dating her, and he would never waver from that stance! My word, look at her hair! 😍 So, happy early birthday to my wife on this anniversary of John’s passing. I miss you like I’d miss the rain, pally. I love you, Chrisy! So did John.

Happy World Theatre Day! This year I've been taking a general, but not complete, break from doing theatre. This time I decided to support friends and colleagues. Grateful to have worked with these people in the recent past. Since Valentines to the present, I have gone almost every weekend to see a show to support the arts, live theatre and friends. From professional theatre to community theatre.

Happy birthday to my dear Aunt Toni! I just came across this photo of her and my Uncle John with my son, Max, at Disneyland! Toni and John were adamant that they were there for my firstborn’s inaugural trip to the Magic Kingdom! Well, that is not surprising because, not only is Toni magical herself, but she and John were literally Cinderella and Prince Charming at their wedding! Yes, literally! I love you, Toni.
