Faith Arts Village Orlando (FAVO) kicked off The Acclaimed Exhibition with an opening reception at the Terrace Gallery at Orlando City Hall this past weekend, a beautiful celebration of the creativity, talent, and stories that make Orlando’s art scene so unique.

The gallery was full of so much talent! Many of the incredible artists from FAVO were there in person. It’s rare to experience art that way…not just on the walls, but through the people who created it.

This is truly a must-see exhibition. It offers a rare opportunity to experience such a wide range of work, like painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, all created by artists who have their studio at FAVO’s one-of-a-kind artist village. If you’ve never been, it’s a former motel on Highland Avenue that’s been transformed into this thriving, creative hub. It’s one of my FAVORITE hidden gems in Downtown Orlando!

This exhibition was created and beautifully curated by Flynn Dobbs, Public Art Coordinator for the City of Orlando, and on a personal note, I have to say how proud I am of Jim Hobart. His beautiful watercolor of FAVO was chosen as the image to advertise the show, and seeing it represent this community was really special.

If you haven’t been yet, I hope you’ll make the time to go. It’s free and it’s such a great way to support local artists and the creative heartbeat of our city. On view through June 7 at the Terrace Gallery at Orlando City Hall.

And if it leaves you wanting more, go experience FAVO in person during their open studio nights on the first Friday & Saturday each month from 5–9 PM at 718 Highland Avenue. It’s one of those places that reminds you how much talent and creativity we have right here in Orlando!

Bob Weir was a champion of music.
I have been lucky to have very musical parents; my mom would play me records as a kid and explain who it was and what it meant. We had a Grateful Dead poster by Peter Max in the music room growing up, and I used to stare at it for hours on end as I played music with my friends.
For my 26th birthday, my mom got me BOX SEATS to see Dead & Co. in Orlando. Well, John Mayer burst his appendix or something, so they had to reschedule for February. A week before the show, @jogi_bear91 called me and offered me a gig to play on Shakedown Street. My short lived band Aloma would re-form with @mcxqbz being the only original guy to come back. @daniel_heitz_music chipped in and we played for 3 hours before heading in to watch Bobby Weir and the Boys do another 3 and a half hours. I had glued lights on my guitar for the gig and was unsatisfied with the result, and after watching Bob and John play, was inspired to start designing my own guitar. The audio on this post comes from that concert.

Without Bob Weir's influence, there would be no Aloma, and there would be no Dazzle, and thusly I wouldn't work for Joe Perry either.

Sending much love and condolences to his family. CANCER SUCKS!!!

2025 Recap pt 1. While it was a hard year for everyone, I got to go on some insane adventures. I started the year with a 3,000 mile road trip with @bluebell_straps Miami-Nashville-Anaheim for the craziest guitar safari to NAMM. In the Spring, I went down to the Virgin Islands for work. July 4th, my Mom and I went on the craziest plane rides to get to the NYC fireworks JUST in time. Then everything changed. Joe asked me to come to South Florida to help on a recording session with this guy, Yungblud, and Steven, and I never even got to look back. I became Joe's tech over the summer months, and through it, met and worked with some really incredible people, some you have heard of, others you have not, but all really amazing people who make miracles happen daily to bring joy and entertainment to the world. Special shout out to Darren and Marco for being amazing mentors to me, truly. Stay tuned for pt 2!
