Early birthday celebration with these beauties!

As I get ready for another trip around the sun, I’m feeling extra grateful for friendships that can go months without seeing or really talking to each other and pick up right where we left off.

Here’s to another trip around the sun with my birthday twin and the beautiful souls that make the journey that much sweeter! 💫☀️♍️

Over the last month, I’ve been cleaning and repairing our two-bedroom unit in our newly purchased triplex. Our company is called Sterling Marie Properties—named after our kids’ middle names. I actually love the name, and this project has been the start of my journey into the DIY world.

This unit was a massive undertaking. The walls were stained with something called “water heater ghosting,” and it felt like every time I fixed one thing, another surprise popped up. I was spending every spare minute there, and eventually I had to face the truth: even though I work on these properties for my family, sometimes I end up neglecting them by choosing the work over them. My therapist reminded me that balance matters—that choosing the project can still mean not choosing my family in those moments.

Then, right at the end of the project, we discovered significant water damage in the bathroom after pulling up the tile. That’s when SB Enterprise and ASAP Plumbing stepped in and truly saved the day. They finished everything—literally the morning our new resident moved in. We chose her because of her story, and I prefer to call the people who live in our units residents, not tenants, because for me it’s about relationship and fit. I wanted her to walk into a home that was clean, smoke-free, and welcoming—not something that looked neglected.

SB Enterprise worked within my tight budget, let me use my little military discount to get affordable LVP flooring, sent us progress photos the entire time (while I was out of state), and even touched up the ceilings without me asking. They were professional, kind, and incredibly reliable. I’m so happy with the final product.

So this is a big shout-out to SB Enterprise, to ASAP Plumbing, and—honestly—to my therapist for keeping me grounded through the chaos. This two-bedroom renovation turned me into a real DIY babe, but I’m grateful I didn’t have to finish it alone.
