I’m running an informal workshop/discussion/salon in September about the body and writing (writing the body, bodily writing, writing beyond the body) co-designed with beautiful diva @lyric_essay for @emergingwriters . There’ll be novel excerpts, short fiction, lyric essays, poetry and philosophy. A whole charcuterie board of the body and form. Come thru Naarm friends 🥺. Link in bio 🫶🎀

the old sell sword is tracked down by the protégés of their protégés: this one feels surreal! I was profiled in @pelicanmagazine by their brilliant editor @lyric_essay Pelican is where I cut my teeth as a writer. It was the first place I ever saw my name in print. I was the co-editor in chief (w. Koko) in 2011, and it formed me as an artist, a person, and most definitely, a little stinker (uni was NOT happy with our final edition cover, to put it mildly). Sure, I hospitalised myself running the Save the Pelican campaign in 2012 (young Libs tried to put an incel Charlie Kirk type guy in charge) and definitely put things in its pages that would cause me to suffer frontal lobe collapse if I were to read them now, but! it was the home of some of my fondest memories and friendships, despite my best attempts to get us featured on Media Watch with each new issue. Being interviewed in it as a haggard old wordsmith…well, cats in the cradle etc. Go out and cop it! This young mob are doing The Old Bird justice / do not seem as keen on publishing graphic dinosaur p*rn as I was! Pelican 4eva!
