POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@m.aahaul is making a strong case for himself with his latest single, ‘Underground Shit’. Released on 3 October 2026, the self-produced track sees the emerging rapper blend a bouncy, old-school hip-hop beat with mythological references and unapologetic lyrical confidence.

Drawing inspiration from references such as Kishkindha Kand and Brahmand Swaroop, Maahaul brings his ‘Spiritual Gangster’ identity to the forefront, using mythology and cosmic imagery to express his ambition and belief in his own potential. The accompanying black-and-white music video complements the track’s raw aesthetic, keeping the focus on his delivery and evolving artistic identity.

Rather than waiting for recognition to validate his vision, Maahaul uses ‘Underground Shit’ to establish his own standards and make his intentions clear. With a distinctive concept, self-driven production and a confident approach to his craft, he is an artist worth keeping an eye on.

What do you think of Maahaul’s latest release?

Maahaul is backing his self-belief with bars on Underground Shit 🔥

The Mumbai-based rapper released this self-produced single on 3 October, bringing an old-school hip-hop bounce together with mythological references and unapologetic lyrical confidence.

From Kishkindha Kand to Brahmand Swaroop, Maahaul uses Indian mythology and cosmic imagery to express a bigger vision of himself and his place in Desi Hip Hop.

What makes Underground Shit interesting is the identity behind it.

Maahaul calls it the Spiritual Gangster approach, where self-belief comes before fame, money or validation.

The black-and-white music video adds to the raw underground aesthetic, while references to mainstream music culture show that he is not afraid to challenge the usual standards.

After his 2025 rap EP Assorted Bangers Vol. 1, this release feels like another step in shaping his own sound and identity in Indian hip-hop.

Some frames from a music video I shot in November 2025.

My first proper one, where I basically became planner, negotiator, friend and sometimes manager all at once. Mohit bhai gave me a space to just share my ideas and trusted me with it, and honestly it became bigger than just asking people for favours, it turned into a space where I could bring people together as one team. I convinced artists, convinced a brilliant DOP (Lokesh), and kept asking for help, and so many people showed up with their craft and their trust, including Shoeb and Ayan.

Mumbai moves fast and for a while I couldn't keep up in my head. Some days the chaos I thought I left behind followed me anyway, broke, anxious, kicked off projects at times. But somewhere in the middle of all that, this project gave me a quiet kind of joy. I started believing in myself a bit more, trusting my own decisions a bit more. This city, as fast as it is, has honestly been kind to me too.

Not everything worked out. I tried making videos in Varanasi that never really got there, and I guess that's just part of being a filmmaker. In between I shot reels and a teaser for Maahaul's EP, Assorted Bangers, and that gave me the confidence to finally make this happen, with Maahaul, Lokesh and Shoeb by my side.

I treated this like a team, and honestly like a test of who I could become as a filmmaker. After years of working toward this, it finally feels like a real beginning.

Thank you to everyone who turned an idea into a film. This is my small step forward.

Watch it, share it, tell me what you feel 🎬

Directed by Praveen Narayan
DOP Lokesh Yadav
Edited by Mohit Mahore
Stunts Shoeb, Ansh, Mayur, Ayan (dancer)

Just few of the countless chaotic moments that happen during a music video shoot, especially something as challenging as this one.
