A night to remember! 🥂🏆

The BSU-UMD Social Justice Alliance is honored to have received the Community Impact Award at the 2026 Maryland Commission on Civil Rights Gala.

We are proud to carry forward the legacy of Lt. Richard W. Collins III on our respective campuses, across the state, and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in this work. This moment belongs to all of us, and there’s so much more to come.❤️

The Most Disrespected Person in America is the Black Woman. -Malcolm X

In 2024, I signed to be Miss NAACP but I was asked to take role as President. I was uncertain for a big role as such but I made it work.

Being amongst many women in NAACP as a first time Chapter President came with grit, grace and wisdom.

As President, I was able to create opportunities for students that are passionate in government, community service, civic engagement, and built safe spaces for voices unheard on & off campus.

With taking a semester off Fall 2025 but still fulfilling my role, I started lifelong partnerships with Morgan State, University of Maryland, Prince George’s Adult Chapter, Towson and being honored by the President of the university, in one semester.

No leader is perfect but as God is my strength, I stayed committed to the new vision. Revived a chapter after 3 years of limited visibility and inactivity on campus, all while navigating Bowie’s administration. This taught me how to lead under pressure and keep pushing forward even when support is limited.

All being said, will like to give a special thank you to those that have supported me through this monumental journey❤️.

And to those who judged me without knowing me and shutting me out, Thank You. The disrespect only strengthened my resilience, and my work will always speak louder than your opinions.

Remember the name.

Grateful for everyone who joined us at the 2026 BSU-UMD Social Justice Alliance Symposium as we honored the legacy of Lt. Richard W. Collins III. Through this year’s theme, “Freedom Dreams and Radical Joy”, we came together in community, reflection, and powerful conversation on justice, joy, and collective resistance.

A special thank you to our incredible moderator Abby Phillip and our amazing panelists Kier Gaines, Lynae Vanee, Stevener Gaskin, Madison Diggs, and Giovanni Porrata for helping bring this vision to life. As we move forward, may we continue to honor, resist, and dream—grounded in joy, hope, and the pursuit of a more just and liberated future.

Paradise Cold Plunge #32
Energy was amazing today. We were blessed with so many first time plungers that pushed past fear and did it anyways.
