angry child 059 with Diciassette EMME and SDF met about a year ago, coming from two different but complementary approaches to electronic music. SDF is a filmmaker and art director with an early background as a drummer. In recent years, he has moved increasingly into electronic music, developing a hardware-based approach to dub, dub techno and ambient techno, both through his solo work and as part of the duo Washington 80. EMME comes from a techno background, primarily producing in Ableton, while also exploring ambient techno and more experimental forms of electronic music through hardware-based live performance. After meeting, the two began discussing the idea of spending a concentrated period of time together to explore what could happen by combining their different musical languages. Rather than having one adapt to the other, the idea was to meet somewhere in between — with dub techno becoming a loose common ground rather than a fixed genre or formula. They eventually spent two weeks together in Amsterdam developing the project through improvisation, experimentation and continuous recording. The music was deliberately left open to the environment around them: sounds recorded in the streets of Amsterdam were sampled and transformed alongside synthesised material, allowing elements of the city to enter the set directly. The resulting live performance sits around 116 BPM and moves through dub techno, ambient techno, hypnotic rhythms and more abstract electronic territories. It is intentionally non-canonical and largely improvised, built around repetition, space, texture and the interaction between the two performers rather than a predetermined arrangement. The set was performed live using a Digitakt II, Analog Four MKII, MF B-22 drum machine and Torso S-4. Link in Bio ⚫
