POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

.....
There are moments during a session when I know better than to pick up my camera.

Marie was completely comfortable out on the fallen tree. She asked a quick question about posing. I heard every word, but simply put my hand behind my ear and shook my head.

She smiled.

And like Marie often does, she just figured it out herself. 😂.

Marie — Trusting The Glen

She knew the drop was there.
She knew I had gone out first.
She knew I had her.

And so she didn't need to think about the danger.
She could simply listen to The Glen.

What do you think Marie was hearing in this moment?

Photographer's Note:
Sometimes the most beautiful images happen when a model trusts the place, trusts the photographer, and forgets about the camera.

.....
I often go into a place with an idea of what will, or will not, work.
I was wrong about this dress.

Marie — Never Prejudge

I thought it was too bold
or The Glen.

Too black and white!

We ventured deeper
into its embrace.

The dress was absorbed by The Glen,
turning flowers into foliage,
black into shadow,
and movement into water.

Marie had changed my mind.

And then Jessica smiled and said,
“Right!? It is gorgeous in here!”

Sometimes
we simply need to listen
before deciding
what belongs.

Have you ever changed your mind about something simply because you saw it in a different place?

Photographer’s Note:
Marie has a wonderful way of making me question my first thoughts about wardrobe. This time, she and The Glen worked together to change both Jessica’s and my minds about this beautiful dress.

.....

Some places don't ask us to pose. They simply invite us to be ourselves.

Marie — Feeling At Home

There is something beautiful about watching someone become comfortable in a place.

Marie seems to have found that comfort here.

Leaning against an old tree, surrounded by the quiet of the woods, she doesn't look like someone posing for a photograph.

She looks like she belongs.

And those little cowgirl boots?

They might just be my favorite part. A little bit of playfulness beneath all that quiet.

Sometimes the best portraits happen when we stop trying to make the moment happen—and simply let someone be.

Where is the place that makes you feel most at home?

Photographer's Note:
For me, environmental portraiture has always been about more than placing someone in a beautiful location. I want the place to give them something—to slow them down, make them comfortable, and perhaps allow them to see a little of the beauty in themselves that I see through my camera.

Marie - A Beautiful Soul in the Woods

A vision in white against the ridges of the Black Cherry.
Modern elegance meets the ancient forest,
where light and texture find their balance.

Her beauty is a soft light in the clearing.
A warm smile and a classic silhouette,
shining bright against the dark, weathered trunk.

Sunlight dances through her beautiful hair,
weaving gold through each soft curl,
illuminating a spirit at home in the wild.

The soft drape of her dress, the signature boots.
Grounded in the green undergrowth, yet as light
as the shafts of sun breaking through the canopy.

It is more than a pose; it is an exchange.
The woods offering their textured peace,
her beautiful soul reflecting its grace.

A moment of genuine calm, perfectly framed,
where natural beauty meets elegant style.

Logan & Marie – Becoming One

Two souls, two paths,
now finding a single rhythm
beneath the canopy.

Bound by a promise,
they lean into the ancient strength
of the wild Black Cherry.

The woods lean back,
an emerald embrace for a love
creating deep and lasting roots.

The wind whispers secrets
through the thicket and thorn,
witnessing a sacred vow.

Intertwined like the branches,
drawn upward by the same sun,
two lives become a single story.

Separate no longer,
but growing together
into the light.
