North Bay Weekend Recap

Highlighting three of our athletes who put in overtime hours this summer.

Quinn Western, by way of @novarugby , finished as a National Runner-Up at the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship Tournament. NOVA fought hard to retain its title after winning it all last year but fell just short this time around. Major props to NOVA 7s as they continue to prove that the DMV produces top talent in U.S. rugby. Cheers to the boys!

Mitch Vannoy, by way of @skillrugby , finished 8th in the nation at the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship Tournament. You can’t help but love this program. Built for contact, speed, and creativity, they find ways to score while smashing the opposition with physicality. Cheers to the boys!

Cam Crosler (NB Captain), by way of @alexandriamayorscup ,competed across the pond, facing Alexandria, VA’s sister city in Dundee, Scotland. The men’s selects side finished 1-1 on the weekend and had the opportunity to explore everything beautiful Scotland has to offer.

Rugby provides: experience, opportunity, friendships.

Shoutout to our guys for making the time to compete and stay active over the summer. Shoutout to the clubs and programs that provided these opportunities.

We have one more summer session tomorrow (Wednesday) before we start training next week for the Fall Campaign.

If you’re on the fence about playing rugby or joining a new team, this is your sign to show up tomorrow or reach out for details. We’d love to meet you.

Finishing off our roster announcements we’ve got the one and only, @m_vannoy 🐗 🐗🐗

Name: Mitch Vannoy
Position: Utility
High School Rugby: Christiana (DE)
College Rugby: @delawarerugby
Years w/ Schuylkill River: 11
Appearances at Men’s 7’s Nationals: 8
Coaches Comment:
“Mitch has been a warrior for our program for so long. He sets the standard of what it means to be part of this program, do your job no matter how much it hurts you physically or your ego. Team above individual. He plays at that standard every second, and doesn’t allow his teammates to expect anything less of themselves. The Boar is back.”

Sweet treats, the playground, working with Teacher Harriet, AND taking photos with Mitch and Sarge for Dean?? How good is Summer 7s!!

Things have been awesome this summer and Philly RFC has one more tournament to go. We'll be at the Club 7s National Championship in Wisconsin the weekend of August 8-9.

The team is raising money with a karaoke party this weekend but is also accepting direct donations. The link is in my IG bio or here if you're able to contribute:

The Boars lose at the death in the final at Billy Gardner 7s in Virginia to Nova. Gutted by the loss but the level of play shined and gave fans a helluva a match.

River Rats continue to play at an extremely high level as they mature in the Premier division. Despite some hard lessons, battled to 3rd place match again before ultimately losing.

We head to Maryland next week!

Summer Touch Sessions every Wednesday from 6-8pm.

Last Wednesday’s summer touch was great. 25+ players of all skill levels.

If Wednesday touch isn’t enough rugby and your looking to scratch that competitive itch we have Thursday evening 7s training for our social sevens side as well. Great opportunity to play in some summer tournaments and sharpen your skills!

North Bay stepped up in honor of Derek Slesinger and got the job done this weekend! That's a great job honoring a friend and former teammate!

North Bay is off the National Final Four and the whole EPRU will be hoping for Bay by a Billy!

We're sending some Horse Power to the final four as well with Phoenixville joining them! The whole Union wishes both of you the best of luck in Chicago, let's bring home two National Championships! #epru #withyou

Club Update.

Ten members of the Men’s North Bay Rugby program have been selected to represent Philly United—a testament to their work ethic, consistency, and commitment to the standard we hold as a club.

This selection reflects not only individual performance, but the culture built within our program. We’re proud to see North Bay represented at the next level and look forward to watching these athletes compete.

Well earned. Well deserved.
