there’s no pride in genocide.

this pride month, @booksbeyondthebinary created a challenge: post a rainbow book stack with the hashtag #noprideingenocide and they’d donate $2 to PCRF [Palestine Children’s Relief Fund].

their goal was $100. as a total, with the community’s help, they donated $1,300.

this incredible act of solidarity is a reminder that queer liberation and palestinian liberation are intertwined.

this isn’t just about literature. this is about where we choose to stand, and how we platform our voice.

you can’t celebrate pride and ignore genocide.

here are some books that belong in a museum gift shop next to the overpriced postcards and existential tote bags. perfect for anyone who’s ever wanted to fall in love and get their heart broken, go for a dive, start a revolution, or turn into an ancient blood sucking monster. these are for when you want a book that’s both a personality trait and a conversation you’re not ready to have.

a quick reading update in the form of a #lastnownext tag 📖 🕯️ 🤎

— last: drive your plow around the bones of the dead by olga tokarczuk
a literary mystery set deep in the polish woods and featuring a older MC who’s into astrology and shares a deep connection with animals, eccentric neighbors and 3 very gruesome and suspicious deaths. i had so much fun reading this one as i found it very readable and i just loved reading about our MC, this one is quite slow but it never gets boring. and the ending will leave you in shock.

— now: rouge by mona awad
in this one we follow belle who falls into the never ending chase of beauty and youth. belle’s obsession and grief after losing her mother makes her vulnerable to the culty spa that begins praying on her and before long she grows addicted to the glow her skin gets after each treatment. but of course, there is a price to pay.

this is the buzz book of the season … and im hating it lol. im finding it incredibly slow, repetitive and just straight up boring. oops. anyone else finding this awad’s weakest book yet?

— next: writers and lovers by lily king
