Let’s confuse the robots with these Shenanigans! pins by @maaike00

Seriously silly, pink perspex and full of character, these badges will ward off any ill intent from the robot population. Their mechanical brains will be blown. They might just grab their nearest grandpa sweater, so they too can sport a sausage pin.

‘The pins have been developed from random and unrelated sketches in my sketchbooks. The pin collection titled ‘Shenanigans’ points towards a sense of playfulness that often emerges when drawing/doodling with no particular purpose in mind, allowing your mind to wander. Similarly, selecting which pin to wear is also a playful act, allowing you to consider what message to project. The Shenanigans series embraces the pin format as something which does not take itself too seriously, embracing the space for nonsense it affords.’

Available to order within RSA.

✨ Available for work & open to new creative projects

Design isn’t just what I do — it’s how I think, solve problems, and tell stories.
From branding and digital campaigns to illustration, content, and everything in between… I build visuals that feel as good as they look.

If you’re looking for a designer who’s strategic, a little nerdy, detail-obsessed, and genuinely cares about the work — hi, it’s me 👋

WÊRELD is 10 years old!!! To celebrate, we’re organising an EPIC Worldplay show with @mogalefestival on 7 November in Gauteng, stay tuned for the details. Also, we are smitten with our beautiful new website, created by @danielle__hitchcock (link in bio - go enjoy the experience yourself). It’s a wondrous archive of the hundreds of projects we have done over the past decade, and a space in which to explore our developing @wereldresidencies adventures. Cruising through the website is a deeply moving experience, much love to the hundreds of artists and producers and festivals and venues we have worked with to create more platforms for South African artists to connect and showcase and flourish. We can only tag 20 people in a post, but Wêreld has truly been a collective of hundreds of amazing humans. To the future! #wêreldfam #wêreld10 music in the video by @weareacademie ❤️‍🔥

Thursday, 09.25, 6-8pm:

Join us for an artist-led, interactive project with Nina Torr and Maaike Bakker!

Our current exhibition, “Counterfactuals,” uncovers new possibilities in the unlikeliest of places, inviting audiences to peer through small paper doors, look into unexpected places, notice repeated motifs, and double-check that we are indeed seeing what we think.

Thursday, September 25, you’re invited to participate in a collage workshop expanding on these ideas. Using fragments collected from works-in-progress and personal archives, the artists will offer an exclusive look into their process of collaging and working in mixed media, through demonstration and discussion. Guests are invited to participate by arranging fragments of text, motifs, and images, with prompting from the artists.

Upon the artists’ return to Johannesburg, the collage will be translated into an exclusive artist book commemorating the event.

Link in bio to RSVP.

See you there!
