I got a guitar and a piano. I write songs. I got a camera on my phone. I take pictures. I got lungs and oxygen. I breath.

Ten days before Valentine's and it's time to get into practice. ClerknWell🫀SLAB is here to help with a feverish line-up of powets, moosishuns, komix and cake upstairs at The Betsey Trotwood, Weds 4 February. Featuring:
😍 Maayan Madar, whose deep baritone bring us songs of intrusive families, revolutionary basements, and windows that look out onto the sea.
😍Mandola-wielding rapper, singer, and songwriter Roops.
😍 Midnight Ramblers, blending country, folk and Americana as they keep an ear to the modern world.
😍Award-winning Lebanese-Canadian vocalist, pianist and singer-songwriter Lara Eidi.
😍Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Leo Garbutt performing original songs old and new.
😍Peter Buckley Hill, who won't be doing all 155 of his sonnets.
😍Gypsy jazz houseband Hot Club de Lambeth.
😍And cupid whisperers Diego Brown &the Good Fairy.
🤓 For the love of love, get stuck in.
8pm. £10.

"Targets" de Maayan Madar est un puissant single de rock alternatif qui dénonce la déshumanisation en temps de guerre. Porté par une instrumentation expérimentale et des paroles percutantes, le titre évoque la douleur, la peur et une lueur d’espoir.

Last night was the latest edition of The Lantern Society London at the venerable Betsey Trotwood, where delighting us with their song were @robcorcoranmusic , @maayama , Charlie salvidge , Emma Scarr ("the devil can have my extra years; I don't want them any more"), Sam Beer, Maria Mihailik then, after a short interval, Jack bloody Harris , James McKean And The Blueberry Moon (feat James McKean, Matt & Jack), Ned Roberts , Gabi Garbutt & finally Richie (whose set we had to skip 'cause the train home was a hollerin' 😭).

Throughout the night there had been joy, melancholy, the sense we were all in this together, and if I had to pick one favourite act, I'd probably say all of them.

And it's still the best fiver you can spend in London.
