#FMTLifestyle Mention cheerleading and many people still picture girls in pleated skirts, pom-poms in hand, cheering from the sidelines.

The members of @maccoroni.allboyscheer are out to change that perception.

Made up of five men aged between 22 and 32, the squad has been turning heads with gravity-defying routines that challenge long-held assumptions about who belongs on the cheer mat.

The squad was founded just last year by Jaiandran “Jeevan” Veerasingam and Low June Siong, but their cheerleading journeys began years earlier.

For Jeevan, it all started with the film “Bring It On”, which he watched when he was nine. “I thought, ‘Wow, is there a sport like this in Malaysia?’” the 26-year-old recalled.

Just a year later, his school introduced cheerleading. He signed up and never looked back.

Recently, a video of an all-male cheer team went viral for their powerhouse performance that left the crowd at Paradigm Mall in awe. Posted by Instagram user @sandrinecheer , the video showcased the team’s elite movements at the Malaysia Cheer Challenge Open (MACCO) 2026!

The squad, known as Maccoroni, features members aged 23 to 33 and has been training together in their current lineup since December 2025. Despite a last-minute injury to one of their bases just a week before the event, the team delivered a seamless routine with the help of international Coach Kay and the Python Cheerleading Club.

Speaking to SAYS, the team shared that the opening move seen in the video—a Pike open double basket toss—actually took their flyer about four years to perfect.

All cheerleaders in the group are under the Malaysia’s Cheerleading Association (CHARM), and their hard work clearly paid off as they won 1st place in the Level 6 Premier Division at MACCO 2026!

Well done team! @maccoroni.allboyscheer 🎉
