“Dude, is it worth it to run 37s??” - my DMs every week.

✅ Ground clearance: Every 1” increase in tire diameter only raises clearance by about **½ inch. Bigger tires are more important on longer vehicles. A 2 seater on 32s can clear ledges easier than a 4 seater on 37s. **

✅ Gearing: As a rule of thumb, if you increase tire size by say 25%, you’ll want gears roughly 25% lower (numerically higher) to get your acceleration, crawl ratio, and overall drivability back.

✅ Rotational mass: Bigger tires and heavier wheels don’t just add weight—they add rotating weight. That means slower acceleration, longer stopping distances, more stress on brakes, wheel bearings, ball joints, steering components, axles, driveshafts, and even your transmission.

The biggest tire isn’t always the best setup. If you’re not willing (or budgeting) to build around the upgrade with stronger parts and lower gears.. probably not worth it.

A well-balanced build will often outperform a SXS that’s chasing tire size alone.

But yes… they look cool and I’ll probably do @obortires 37” RocScrapers again on the next build 🤪🤷🏻‍♂️
