Was gifted a friend's "I have made a mistake" purchase today. Untangling everything is both soothing and exasperating. I've decided to pull the cool colors and toss the rest. Winding the yarn cakes is just so nice though...

Today is Jake’s birthday - and every year, he wants me to make him an Antique Caramel Cake (recipe: Baked). It’s probably one of my least glamorous cakes; it’s made with a drenching of salted caramel between the layers, along with a very soft caramel cream cheese frosting which gets rather tricky to handle. The cake always lists a little to one side and looks a bit catty-wumpus. I truly want to scream sometimes when I hurriedly put it together. Anyhow, that’s why this picture is shot from above - the sides are “iffy”. Needless to say, no matter HOW it turns out or looks, he always insists he loves it. And I love him. ❤️ Happy Birthday, honey. #birthdaycake #quarantinebaking #antiquecaramelcake #atleastittastesgood #saltedcaramel #creamcheesefrosting #caramelcake #bakerboy #happybirthday #bfbirthday
