✨10 years ✨

The past few years I have reflected on this epic journey I took in 2015 from Santa Monica, CA to the Brooklyn Bridge, NYC.

The first photo is me leaving ( Sunday August 16, 2015) and realizing how crazy I was for for doing something like this but also for how crazy I was to even doubt whether or not I could. You see…most people go through life too scared to go after what they want because of what other people’s opinions. If I had allowed the people who questioned me going on this epic journey then I wouldn’t be where I am today.

The second photo is me arriving on the Brooklyn bridge, greeted by my friends, during a hurricane no less. A friend hired a professional photographer who waited to greet me and took this shot of my friends cheering & crying. I felt so at peace in this moment.

Since moving home I started dealing with trauma from my past that has taken me to a deep, dark place. I realized that I needed to do everything in my power to get back to the version of myself that believed anything was possible. I’ve lost a lot in these past few years. I lost an identity that used to define who I was. I’ve lost friends who couldn’t handle being around someone who was so depressed all the time, they just stopped reaching out. I lost out on opportunities because of it. When you fly the flight attendants give directions and the one that stands out to me is;

“If the cabin loses pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Place the mask over your nose and mouth before assisting others. Always put your own mask on first before assisting others.”

That’s what I’ve been doing. So…

To those who have allowed me to take care of me and have stood by me, thank you.

To those who have shown me support, grace and lended an ear, thank you.

To those who haven’t judged me when I just couldn’t show up because I was showing up for myself, thank you.

To those who are dealing with their own trauma & depression and are doing everything to move forward, I am here for you. I am finally in a place to be there for you. I may still have my oxygen mask moments but I promise if you call and need me, I will be there. (Cont’d in comments)
