Hey hey hey listen up listen up! 📢🗯

Lollipop here, and this is a little glimpse into the busiest and best week of my whole summer. @kesem is such a special program and I am so grateful for each and every member of @kesem_uc for making our community strong and magical for these kids and each other. Thanks to everyone that donated and helped to make camp possible I cannot wait to get started for this coming year and share Kesem magic with others! XOXO 🍭

If I finally post about it, does that mean it’s actually over? 🥺

Kesem is magic — These kids and counselors are the strongest, most emotionally generous, strongest group of people I have ever met. I am constantly amazed by how resilient and joyful our campers are despite whatever they may have been through. The light they bring into the world is unlike any other, and seeing these smiles on their faces brings more joy to me than you could know. Meanwhile these counselors, my friends, give every piece of themselves through the whole year to make sure that this week is the best ever. Thank you to ALL of you.

Kesem is family — It’s hard to put into words how much this organization has changed my life and taught me. I came to school not knowing how I would find a community in the midst of a global pandemic in an unfamiliar place, and I was immediately welcomed by people who I didn’t know at the time would become some of my eventual best friends for life. Connections that I know will last forever have been created at meetings, at socials, and at camp. I grew, and I learned from counselors and campers alike.

Kesem is love — Despite anything that gets thrown at us — including literal TORNADOS — we turn it into the most fun sleepover. Love is caring so much to listen, caring so much to support, caring so much to give hugs, laugh, and cry together. Love is the things that we do for each other.

Kesem is home — There are very few places that you can go where you always know you can be your unapologetic and whole self. Kesem is one of them. I never have to lessen myself, rein it in, change parts of myself to fit in. The opportunity to bring and be who I am without fear of judgement and with the guarantee of acceptance has made Kesem an unquestionable and constant safe space.

I say a see-you-later to this organization with the most love in my heart and the most hope for the future and the change that @kesem will continue to bring. I am SO grateful and SO proud to be a part of this truly life-changing organization.

Our next cord pair to be introduced is outreach! Bean and Texas are the perfect duo for this job!

On outreach they are our main line of communicating with campers families and community contacts. These two will absolutely slay this year.

My home away from home <3

@kesem over the years has grown so dear to my heart. Getting to know all of our campers, making new friends, and dancing like no one’s watching has had a huge impact on my life.

Watching a new camper start a song during closing circle, seeing 2 campers bond over a shared experience, and even getting paint absolutely everywhere. These are all things that go into making kesem what it is.

This year at camp was probably my hardest one yet, filled with big emotions and hardships. With that being said, I want to thank God for putting kesem into my life when I needed it the most. Thank you to my wonderful yellow unit counselors who supported me through all the ups and downs + absolutely KILLED it! And lastly thank you to every single person who has helped make kesem what it is today. We wouldn’t be here without you!

This week heals all and I can’t wait for camp again next year @kesem_uc
