I turned 27 about a week and a half ago…Justin Bieber released My World 2.0 at age 16….when I was 16, I was just getting to know these girls who would then continue to be my friends/family/fucking chiiiingoos/fuck asses for another ten years. Ten years later, Justin Bieber is headlining Coachella, and we are all together in the crowd dancing, singing, and laughing in ways that we haven’t before. It is crazy that those things will always feel good with yall. I have always beliebed that things happen as they should and they always do…fun fact Justin Bieber wore a Viet designer and I wore one too….I guess we are both at a very Vietnamese time in our lives.

if you were to tell me that in a little over two years time from when I moved to New York that on a random sunday during Pride Month, the family I’ve made here and the loves of my life would meet my chosen family from Oklahoma and Georgia, I would look at you and believe it. I would believe that wild vision because I know that I am good at bringing people together. I always love to personally invite friends and friends of those friends to my markets because it genuinely feels like having someone over into my home. I make my table into a curated room of sorts with all my trinkets and photos of family that couldn’t make it and the people whose support give me the strength to choose life over despair. I even keep medicine (tinctures for grief and heart support) like any auntie/uncle/transelder would. I am so grateful for the love that I received in all its forms. People showed up for me in ways I did not expect and it is very meaningful to me to see the labors and efforts of my life manifest into one of the best sundays of my big little life.

Much love to Ashi for being the best tabling assistant to ever exist in all of the lifetimes. Calum, Gami, Richie, Beau, Mariah, Bender, Maxine, Faith, Olivia, Sophia, Justice, D, Mel, Mai, May, Jakob, Julia, that one sweet t4t long distance couple, and my beloved beomgyu stan TYSM for your presence🫀

so how do I show love to myself? 2024 has taught me that I show love to myself by sharing with friends, saying yes to see the ones far away for occasions and none at all except that I missed them, doing extraordinary things for myself, smiling with strangers who later become your friends, respecting my own interests and joys, having meals that celebrate the true meaning of friendship, enjoying every damn bite, laughing the loudest in the room, seeing your loved ones achieve things in real time, being a witness to others’ wonder, bringing extreme unfathomable acts of love to life (for others and onto myself), and living by my heart’s truest beat.
