POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The lanes were packed, the energy was unmatched, and the city came through heavy! From the friendly competition to the nonstop laughs and good vibes, King Pin Bowling was definitely one for the books!

Good people. Great energy. A whole lot of strikes! 🎳

Been trying to unshake my nervous system to write this post for the last 4 months …..🥹it’s never gonna get any easier to say so here goes nothin / everything I got:

I’ve spent my whole adult life here in DC. Every second of it from 21 till now. Even when I moved here, I was coming from college & taking an impulsive gig in Baltimore so I literally just packed my 2 suitcases and here I landed.

Not like I had to pack furniture or a house full of kids or my husband- just me. So it felt easy. No looking back. The feeling of leaving things behind never came into my mind —- not in the way it’s hitting me right now.

So gonna just say it 😵‍💫🫪☀️🙏🏽
In a few weeks, I’m moving everything I know and my life to Miami💝

Yes - to be closer to support my baby and attend all of his games. But also , bc I need to spread my wings for me. I’ve become so comfortable here that I could almost say that I’m thankful my son ended up being across the US. And I say that because - would I have ever left and explored other options if not? My community and friends and career are flourishing and stable and vibrant here. But at the same time, DC was never intended to be a permanent thing for me. I took a temp gig here and then was supposed to head to either Cali or back to NY from there.

But as the high powers that be would have it, I got pregnant with my life’s biggest blessing of all time, and his father and I decided we both would alter our personal course and stay put so that he wasn’t being bounced around. We made a pact to stay in DC until he was an adult. So we did exactly that.

And now here we are.

I think for this post. I wanna talk about what DC was to me. The list still carries on. It taught me more in life than anywhere or any one person - other than my son.

Ways and walks it taught me how to be -

a young woman who knew no one in a new city

a survivor on the grind as I figured out what my passions might be
a girlfriend a wife a lover …..I fell all the way in love multiple times and really learned how to love in return. I still speak to and care deeply about each of those people bc what we shared was very real. Not everyone can say they found love more than once.
