Day 432 (July 25, 2026) of my Around The World Cycling Adventure

47.27 miles from Panacea to my home in Tallahassee, Florida.
17,443.68 total miles.

Quote of the day: “Coming home is the most beautiful thing. It’s the warm embrace of familiarity and the feeling of being truly accepted.” — Craig Ferguson
Song of the day: “Home Sweet Home.” - Motley Crue.

Today’s gratitude: a welcome home greeting beyond my wildest dreams; breakfast at Rocky’s with Allen and Scott; meeting fellow triathlete Clement Allen and friends on the trail; cycling the final 20 miles with Gabe Garcia, John Kenny, Doug Harrison and Kyle; surprise visit from my son Josh; welcomed home by nearly 100 friends at the Leon tennis courts; dinner with Josh; sleeping in my own bed…

I could not have asked for a better final day of my around the world cycling adventure. Thank you to so many who turned out for a celebration that I will never forget.
A special shoutout to: my youngest son, Josh, who made a surprise showing; Leon athletic director Riley Bell, who orchestrated the party; superintendent Rocky Hanna; Josh Stewart, Dave Madden and Andy Lara, who kept the tennis program thriving in my absence; Gabe Garcia, Doug Harrison, John Kenny and Kyle, who biked the final 20 miles with me; and all the Leon players, as well as family, who turned out for the welcome home celebration at the courts.
I could not hold back the tears. Thank you all.
The day started at 4:30 a.m. at the Panacea Motel’s bungalow with Scott Houston and Allen Vinson. The final day would be fueled by adrenaline as the previous night’s partying left me with only four hours of sleep. No problem.
Allen and Scott met me at “Rocky’s” in Wakulla for COFFEE and breakfast.
Then I ran into fellow triathlete Clement Allen and friends in the St. Mark’s trail before cycling the final 20 miles with Gabe, John, Doug and Kyle.
My youngest son, Josh, surprised me at the “Power Plant” at Cascades Park, where we were hanging out briefly so we could make a timely appearance at the welcome party.
Cycling back up Franklin Street then turning through the crowd and ultimately back onto the courts was surreal.
