I’ve been trying to come up with a new answer for when people ask how I’ve been. My go to is (and has been forever) “busy” - and while that’s true, it’s also kind of boring? And makes my life feel smaller, the logistics of seeing my favourite people made a lot harder.

This Women’s Health Week, I’m locking in and changing that, chasing that connection - with a commitment to do it anyway.

It’s been a week since I celebrated my half century with my Melbourne family and I’m still basking in the afterglow. How lucky I am to live this life ✨💗

Last night I celebrated my 50th birthday with my Melbourne family and it was magical. I’ve never felt more loved or more seen.

These people have held me up, not just over one of the hardest years of my life – but throughout my many seasons.

In their speeches, they said the most beautiful words, and I kept thinking that this person they were describing sounded so special and so loved – and I felt it.

As I said in my reply, when you don’t know what lies ahead, it can be unsettling. But it also forces you to live more in the moment and embrace the pockets of joy and gratitude. Last night was one of those moments.

My friends have been my constant through the chaos, holding me up in ways that have sustained me – not just over the last year but through the many seasons of my life.

They show me that I’m held by a community who sees me – flaws and all – and that is something that I don’t take for granted.

I enter my 50th year strong, grateful, proud of who I am, and incredibly lucky to be loved by these wonderful people.

And yes, I did wear TWO dresses because why not! 💃🏼🤩

Special thanks to @lorettacurtin for being such a thoughtful MC. She also wore many hats, delivering words from the other side of the world from my Mum, my brother, and my best friend, @jasonballau.

Thanks to my other besties, @leonienea and @tashbodd for speeches that moved us all to tears, and to Tash for organising the most incredible Heilan Coo creation from @bakemecrazysim.

Hair and makeup by my girl @makingpretty, who always makes me feel like a glamazon no matter what’s going on in both of our lives.

And to Mel and her whole team at @teller.brunswickeast, who looked after us with such care and kindness, with the most perfect venue and incredible food. There’s a reason I keep coming back here to host my events – they’re the absolute best.

And finally, to my dear friend, @claire_maso for being my Instagram husband on the night and capturing all the love and joy so beautifully in this reel, you’re a superstar.
