Dança é respiração. É corpo. É coletivo. Colossus, criação da coreógrafa australiana Stephanie Lake, reúne 50 estudantes finalistas do BA em Contemporary Dance da London Contemporary Dance School, em uma criação que investiga as relações entre indivíduo e coletivo. No registro, os artistas aparecem em cena durante a estreia britânica da obra, apresentada no Southbank Centre, em Londres. A produção seguiu depois para o Galway International Arts Festival, na Irlanda. Dreamy 💭 This term has been a special one 🌍 We now have over 500 dancers in our academy - some have accepted places at university or secured professional contracts, but those aren’t the only successes we celebrate. Some, like Niamh, are simply falling back in love with dance. And that’s what this academy is about ❀ Creating a(n accessible) space for everyone to enjoy and peruse their own path in dance. Unhinged explores the female body within systems designed to position, manage and contain it, recalling a long visual tradition of women rendered sculptural, marble-like and unmoving. Suspended within a cold rotating frame that recalls both classical plinths and clinical apparatus, the body is positioned for symmetry and scrutiny. The film reflects on how women’s bodies are often treated as something unruly that needs to be controlled. The title plays with a word often used to describe behaviour perceived as irrational, excessive or out of control.
