POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

VOTING IS LIVE. I NEED YOUR HELP.

I’m officially competing for Top Host and the chance to lead my own six-episode podcast produced by iHeartRadio, receive $25,000, and appear on On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

For me, this is bigger than winning a contest.

Coming back to music, DJing and building B-Boys Underground gave me purpose again during some of the hardest years of my life. I’ve survived cancer twice, faced permanent disability and had to rebuild more than once.

But I kept creating.

I’ve worked to build a place where artists from every level — known and not-so-known — can drop the public image and have real conversations about the music, culture, wins, losses, mental health, survival and the experiences that shaped them.

Now I have an opportunity to take that idea to a much bigger platform.

You can cast ONE FREE VOTE every 24 hours.

If you believe in me and what I’m building, I’m asking you to do three things:

VOTE. SHARE. COME BACK AND VOTE AGAIN TOMORROW.

The clickable link is in my bio and Stories.

I don’t need sympathy. I need the opportunity to show what I can do with a bigger platform.

Let’s go get this.

TONIGHT at 9 PM ET / 8 PM CT / 7 PM MT / 6 PM PT, Sugar Bear joins B-Boys Underground live.

Born Teddy Jackson and raised in Freeport, Long Island, Sugar Bear made his mark with the 1988 underground classic “Don’t Scandalize Mine,” a record known for its fearless sample construction and lasting impact in UK clubs and Golden Era hip-hop circles.

Now, the full story continues with Never Lost: My ’88 Demos, released through Chuck D’s SpitSLAM Record Label Group. The project brings together the unreleased music originally planned to follow “Don’t Scandalize Mine,” including “Ready to Penetrate,” “Coming From London,” rare demos, and restored recordings from the vault.

We will get into:

• The making of “Don’t Scandalize Mine”
• Freeport and the Strong Island hip-hop movement
• The album shelved after his breakthrough single
• His connection to Son of Bazerk
• The records preserved on Never Lost: My ’88 Demos
• Chuck D, SpitSLAM, ownership, legacy, and survival in the music business

Watch live tonight on YouTube, Twitch, and Kick.

MONDAY NIGHT ON B-BOYS UNDERGROUND

Monday, July 20, C-Doc joins me live for the opening chapter of a new interview series focused on SpitSLAM Records and Rap Central Station magazine.

C-Doc is a producer, emcee, filmmaker, President and co-owner of SpitSLAM Records, and Creative Director for Public Enemy. His history with Chuck D reaches back to the early days of online music collaboration and the formation of The Impossebulls, recognized as the world’s first virtual rap squad.

We will break down the vision behind SpitSLAM, its labelguild model, artist ownership, physical media, music documentation, and the mission behind Rap Central Station, Chuck D’s vinyl-sized print magazine centered on artist voices and hip-hop history.

We will also discuss C-Doc’s work across current and recent releases:

C-Doc and Mported Flows are Twenty-One: Twenty-Four, Spanglish

Chill Rob G, Survival of the Better

Chuck D and John Densmore, do+PE: No Country for Old Men

Chuck D Presents Enemy Radio: Radio Armageddon

Public Enemy, Black Sky Over the Projects: Apartment 2025

This is the start of a wider conversation about the artists, releases, history, and future direction of the SpitSLAM Record Label Group.
