New to Calgary? Start here. ➡️

There’s a big difference between visiting a city and actually learning how to live in it, and this list covers the places, routines, and local favorites that help Calgary start feeling like home.

Save this for your next free weekend, send it to someone who just moved here, and add your own must-do in the comments because I know I missed a few.

If you’re thinking of making a move, send me a message and I’ll handle the rest of it!

🌈 Ben’s Rainbow Road for Mental Health — This October at Made By Marcus 🌈

You saw my wins this week, but what you didn’t see or hear about was the moment that led me to make decisions I never imagined I’d have to make in my career.

Last Tuesday, I received a phone call I never could have anticipated. I was terrified, in completely unfamiliar territory, and felt frozen, unsure of what to do. Then instinct kicked in. Decisions were made, conversations were had, and I did what I felt needed to be done in the moment.

What I didn’t fully realize was what would come afterwards: having to process my own emotions, check in with my own mental health, and ask myself a question I hadn’t stopped to consider in the moment: Am I okay?

I learned that even when you’re the one making the tough decisions, you still need support. You still need space to process. And sometimes, you need to lean on the people around you more than you ever expected.

This Thanksgiving, I’m especially grateful for the colleagues who let me cry, the friends who were physically around me so I didn’t have to be alone, and my broker, who reminded me, “You did the right thing,” when I was so overwhelmed that I told them I was quitting. It all came close to breaking me.

And, of course, the Tennessee sunshine provided some much-needed warmth for my soul. ☀️

Sometimes, we celebrate the wins without seeing what it took to get there. Sometimes, the people who seem the strongest are the ones who need someone to check in on them, too.

So, this October, I encourage you to stop by Made By Marcus and grab a pint or a scoop of Ben’s Rainbow Road in support of mental health awareness. 🌈🍦

And then, do one more thing: call someone you care about. Send a text. Ask how they’re really doing. Even if it’s just to say hi.

You never know what someone might be carrying behind the scenes. A simple check-in could mean more than you realize. ❤️
