Stepped out of my comfort zone for this one and I’m so proud of how it turned out 🥹🫶 Also I tried to do a voice over about all the process info and everything but I had a hard time doing that so just wanted to give some more in the caption that I wasn’t able to articulate. Every mural has its new unique struggles, the timeline and nature of this cityscape made this one quite difficult. •I always start by designing on my iPad, this was a very long design process that took roughly 55 hours. •Then I started the first mural day using my Meta VR, which is not a perfect system, wasted a whole day messing with it and then it died and I didn’t have my charger so I just started fresh then next day. I often have to puzzle piece things together on a large mural like this one because the VR shifts around, even when I lock it and try to anchor it with tape. It’s frustrating but I still like it better than the projector because it’s more mobile and worked better for this space. • after the design was up on the wall we started at the top and tried to work around based on the colors we had out, covering all the areas with the first coat. • what took way longer than I ever planned was the measuring and taping of the border. The client requested a border, I never have done one so precise and on such a large vertical wall like this. My mom luckily is good at this sort of stuff so she was a lifesaver is helping me get that part figured out. • because of all the details we painted around as much as we could but I had to get my VR out a lot with certain areas having lots of layered details. Vr for me is easier once you’ve started because u can just find the item u need and line it up with what u have already there. • after so many hours of help form my mom with all the coverage, I started my detail process which took two days in itself. I thrive in the details, without them the piece just falls flat, it’s in the details that I show who I am as an artist. • if I did another city scape I would do a lot differently but every mural teaches me something and although I’ve been doing this for awhile now, I’m always learning and growing. They’re planning a grand opening in November, but they’re officially open for coffee and shopping while they stock their bookshelves! Plus, their mezzanine is very cute with lots of seating!!
