Hud Johnson for Hair The Musical.

“What? You ain’t never seen a brotha with a ‘fro befo’ in some tight as paaaaaaaaants!?”

The coolest role I’ve ever played.

Friends for life = made.

Memories that will never fade.

For what they called a Coloured Spade.

The most important thing first: Hair is almost at the end of its Sydney run. If you have the chance, please go see it!!!

My first Hair was on 21 November 2025 at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne.
My fifteenth was on 23 June 2026 at Theatre Royal Sydney.
My computer now holds 7+ curtain call videos, 100+ curtain call and stage door photos, 5 finished drawings, and 8 more still waiting to be completed.
Over these months, the show has changed in little ways. Some changes I loved, some I‘m still unsure about. But none of that changes what this show means to me. Out of every production I’ve been lucky enough to know, this one remains the one I love most.
To everyone I met in Melbourne and Sydney—thank you. I used to worry that showing up for the same show again and again might somehow become a burden. But every conversation at Stage Door, every smile, every bit of kindness quietly reassured me.
Thank you for choosing to tell this story, and for bringing these characters to life with so much honesty and heart. Every one of you is an incredible performer. So many times I found myself completely swept away by your eyes, your voices, and the way you moved across that stage. When you called out for love, peace and freedom on that stage, I found myself believing—every single time—that maybe one day, that world really could exist.
Maybe that‘s the magic of musical theatre. It holds history, but it also reflects the present. Hair was created in the 1960s, yet so many of the questions it asks still feel painfully relevant today. So we keep singing. We keep telling these stories. We keep speaking up. And in our own way, we continue to spread love and peace.
I truly hope hair keeps finding new stages, new cities, and new people to tell its story to. And if I am lucky, maybe our paths will cross again somewhere down the road.
Love. Peace. Freedom.☮️
P.S. The last few slides tell the story of my journey with Hair🧡
