YOUR FRUIT TASTES SWEET, I TASTE SWEAT
October 22 – November 19, 2026

Our hearts are so full.

What an unforgettable opening night. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, care, and community that brought this exhibition to life.

Rooted in Belizean and wider Central American histories, Your Fruit Tastes Sweet, I Taste Sweat explores the labor behind what we consume, the histories we inherit, and the stories carried across generations and borders.

For our communities in Los Angeles, these histories are deeply personal. This exhibition creates space for stories too often overlooked, honoring the people, traditions, and memories that continue to shape our lives far from home.

Featuring works by:

@astrid.kayembe
@chy_0
@francis_robateau
@madelyniinez
@hydreams
@iamjahjah
@philippatrickharperbucknor
@the_schessa

Our deepest gratitude to these incredible artists for their work, trust, and dedication, to the entire @sovern.la team for their generosity and care, and to our community for showing up with so much love. Seeing everything come into fruition has been truly special.

The exhibition is officially open! Come experience the work, spend time with these stories, and bring your people.

If you’re first-gen, Belizean 🇧🇿, Central American, or grew up in a family of immigrants, this one’s for you.

What do we inherit beyond our last names, recipes, and traditions?

I’ve spent the past two years bringing together artists, stories, and histories that deserve more space in the conversation.
