The best way to end a fantastic season. I love this team so so much! We won the tournament (after two games ending in PK shootouts😬) and it was the most fun I’ve had playing soccer. Truly going to miss this team so much, I love you guys!!

I could fish the Shenandoah the rest of my life and not capitalize on a trophy fish like this again.
-
I paddled up the river to do some scouting... check out structure, depths, contour, etc
-
I didn’t have a GoPro, didn’t have a scale, tape, or anything necessary to really get the metrics on this monster smallmouth.
-
I won’t make all of those mistakes on an outing again.

Fortunately, I had a @mysterytacklebox and the inside of the lid has a ruler. This bass measured a little over 22” and had a girth in the 15-16” range placing it in the 6-7ish pound range.

I legit thought I had hooked up with a musky because it pulled me and the kayak off the bank and I was scrambling to paddle with one hand and keep pressure on the fish with my other. -

This whole ordeal would have been a sight to see. Haha

Fishing has been tough with cold weather and high water, but not Texas ice fishing tough.

This tank was my first fish of the year, first fish on the new kayak, first bass on a chatterbait (never had any until late last year 🤷🏻‍♂️), and most definitely a PB by 2-3x my last PB smallmouth.

It’s also bigger than my best largemouth. 😅

Days like this are few and far between for most anglers but ALWAYS remembered.

My memory was fresh for this one, but try me in a couple years and I’ll tell you about the 8lb smallmouth I caught in March of 2021 😂😂😂

Tied this guy up for pike while in AK and never got it wet... SO, I broke it in this past weekend on the Shenandoah after a toothy critter casually swam by me while in knee deep water.

I slapped the water for 30min before having to head home defeated, but with a grin and hopes of sticking a musky in the near future.

Oh my, so we’re sitting outside in the shade garden grilling dinner as the sun is going down. I have cut flowers all over the place around here, including this bunch I bought this morning from fellow grower momma, Sugar Maple Backyard Farm. She bunches hers in masons jars like I do, so I buy from her for the Bartlett Station Farmers Market booth normally every Saturday. It’s good ju-ju to support your fellow agriwoman, you know. Some special guy turned another year older. Unfortunately, he is too sick to eat this strawberry rhubarb pie he requested. Good thing pies keep!

BlackBerry Honey Pineapple Sage jam will debut at the @oaklandtnfarmersmarket this Saturday. Our blackberries came from one of our fellow vendors and the pineapple sage from our backyard herb garden. You will taste the blackberries, honey (the only sweetener), pineapple with a hint of sage.

Sugar Maple Backyard Farm has added 2 new jams for market tomorrow. Peach Vanilla Bean and Spiced Plum. Although, jams are wonderful on biscuits and toast, I put this spiced plum over meatballs for dinner last night. It was amazing! So, I will be marinating ribs this weekend in it as well. 😄
I will still have strawberry rhubarb, blueberry lemon basil, and pineapple honey. This will be the last week for pineapple honey.

Toast and Jam is more than just a quick breakfast when you get them at the market.
Whatever Ms. Gayle @puddlegirl67 does to her bread is sent from heaven. Soft and chewy, but firm enough to hold up to anything you put on it. It has amazing texture and flavor. Sandwiches made from this loaf are meant to be savored.
