Our hearts are broken as we, the Johnson girls, write this to you all.
Just two months ago, on July 9th, our dad was diagnosed with stage four bladder cancer. A shock to us all! Although we wanted to tell everyone so that he could be surrounded in love and prayer, our dad is a private person and asked us to keep things quiet as we all adjusted to our new normal. Because the cancer had metastasized to his lymph nodes, which affected other organs, we knew the odds were not great. Even so, the decision was made to begin chemotherapy. We have never been more proud as we’ve been watching our dad fight these past two months.
Unfortunately, despite the chemo treatments, multiple surgeries, dialysis, and the help of the amazing doctors and nurses at Atrium Hospital, the prognosis is certain. Our dad has decided to come home and live his final days comfortably and surrounded by our love.
He wants you all to know that he has given us permission to tell friends and family, not because he thinks he is important, but because you ALL have been so important to him.
We ask you pray for our father as he prepares to meet his Father. Pray for Dr. Johnson, a great healer, as he prepares to meet our God, THE Great Healer. Pray for peace for our dad until the moment comes when he finally hears the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
