Today's #FridayFeature is this pair of batting gloves worn by Elodie Ciamarro (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, QC) in the inaugural game of the Women’s Pro Baseball League (WPBL) on August 1, 2026.

In the historic game between the LA Queens and the New York Heights, the Queens won the inaugural contest 10-8. Ciamarro was one of 5 Canadians in the lineups when she entered the game at 2nd base.

Fellow Canadians Jaida Lee, Claire Eccles, and Madison Willan also took the field for the Heights while the lone Canadian on the opposing roster for the Queens was Michelle Roche.

Congratulations to all of the Canadian-born athletes who competed in the inaugural season of the WPBL this year, we can't wait to see what comes next!

New York Or Nowhere 🐶

First Professional season in the books. ✅

Thank you to the fans that made it out to Springfield, bought the merch, watched online, and found a way to be apart of something special. Signing every autograph and taking photos with you all was just as cool to us as it was to you.

To my teammates and opposing players, thank you for also being apart of something that we all dreamed about. Going to have lasting memories both on and off the field. It was fun to learn new languages, experience different ways to train, learn each other’s different cultures, and get the opportunity to hang out all season long.

To the @wpbl_official and @wpbl_heights thanks for allowing us to be apart of something we thought wouldn’t happen in our life time. Can’t wait for the next.

Explosive offense from both teams led to an exciting game, however, the Queens did not relinquish the regency and took game 3 and the series.

Covered for the WPBL

The season has come to an end…

I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for everyone who made this season possible. No matter how big or how small you think your job was, it would have never happened without everyone. I have been blessed with the opportunity to play professional baseball and this is not an opportunity that I will take for granted.

Even though it was a short season I have made endless memories and made some amazing friendships. I am so glad I was able to cross paths with such an amazing group of women and I hope we get to ball together for a lifetime.

Even though the season did not go as we had hoped, I am heading home with endless memories and an experience of a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone that made this league happen, I am forever in debt to you. No matter where life takes you, make sure you walk through it with a smile. Spread some positivity and joy to those who need it most.

I love you all 🫶
