💌 a love letter to cheerleading:

when i reflect back on my time as a cheerleader, i am filled with nothing but gratitude. it’s the kind of feeling that is hard to articulate into words. i am lucky enough to say that i accomplished everything i could have ever dreamed of my cheer career. i won Spirit of Six for the first time in school history, cheered at countless tournaments and rivalry games, served as a captain in various capacities, cheered in a d1 gameday environment, made the all-state team, and i was fortunate enough to be a part of the small percentage of athletes who continue their sport in college. it is hard for me to remember a time before all the late nights and early mornings. after all these years, cheer isn’t just something i do; it has helped shape me and it is a part of who i am.

while i have learned many valuable lessons, the one that sticks with me the most is this: be tenacious in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. do it tired. do it sick. do it hungry. do it injured. do it when you feel like you have nothing left to give. even in the toughest moments, i only have gratitude.

after nine years, i can confidently say that is is the people who make the experience so special. blessed is an understatement, and i am so grateful for the countless friendships, opportunities, and memories that will last a lifetime. i wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.🤍
