This is one of my favorite moments from a wedding I’ll ever have.

Getting natural expressions in the most important moments of your life isn’t always easy. There’s always in the back of your head, that thought of “I’m on camera right now”. The big sparkler aisle send off, such a fun special moment.

There was a kids Adirondack chair I was stood on to get this photo. I wanted to be able to capture the moment fully and I needed the elevated angle for the shot. As I looked through my viewfinder I was engrossed in the moment. A second later the chair kicked out from under me and I SLAMMED into the ground. I was dazed as my head and camera hit the ground. Everyone was focused on Charlotte and Madeleine, and no one saw but them.

I popped up as fast as possible and kept pressing the shutter. They were dying laughing at me, watching as I just ate sh** in the dirt. I was covered in dirt capturing the best moment that could have possibly happened. Truly something memorable for us all.

I love spending and being able to illicit these moments naturally, somewhat forced in this instance… Weddings are a lot of fun, you just have to dust yourself off every once in awhile 😅

Finally made it out to @thirdsbk to see @geopad for @cameofucci birthday and a little Misi Reunion. The staff was extremely attentive, caring, and knowledgeable about every aspect of the restaurant. We had several amazing interactions with the servers about sake and drink pairings. The food was beyond expectation and pretty different from the typical run of the mill Japanese cuisine. The restaurant’s design is beautiful, simple, and has a touch of modern elements to it. Overall this experience is very high on my list from the service to the food and decor. Thank you to John for ordering for the 6 of us who couldn’t decide on anything, and to Fleur for the excellent sake recommendations and nightcap. Big congratulations to George, JT, and the team at Rule of Thirds for this amazing place and hitting it out of the park.
1. Whiskey flight post dinner curated by @fleuryvette which was the perfect way to end it, especially the Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu US Edition.
2. Front of the Menu.
3. Amazing skewers, Pork Jowl, Duck Hearts, Lamb Tongue with a Japanese mustard. Get the Pork and Lamb!
4. Yaki Onigiri, Chicken Meatball, and Maitake with Gremolata. Chicken meatball skewer is a MUST.
5. Chicken Karaage with a crack tartar sauce.
6. Smashed cucumbers, simple and refreshing side.
7. Butter bean Kasujiru made from @brooklynkura sake lees.
8. Wagyu Nikujaga being mixed by our serve John. The beef was phenomenal and had such a reinforced flavor from the grill 🤤
9. Happy Birthday to @cameofucci
10. Man of the Hour(s) @geopad
Last but not least, 2 dishes that aren’t picture, but are must-haves were the Hot Honey Yuzu Salad and Mazemen. The salad was probably one of the best salads I’ve had (and you know I barely go out of my way for a salad). The mazemen had pieces of pork jowl, mushroom miso Gochujang, and poached egg that coated perfectly to give the noodles a great silky and rich flavor. I need 3 more bowls of it.
