When I found my dream Vivienne Westwood dress secondhand, it felt too good to be true... Then I met @madsphere and somehow it got even better. Together we dreamed up a way to make the dress longer, add some dramaaaa, and turn an already incredible dress into something that felt entirely my own. We also worked a little magic on my Victoria Beckham after-party dress, making that one feel just as special. To complete the look, my talented friend @sarahotcouturenyc created the custom veil of my dreams🥹 Getting to collaborate on the design and watch our ideas come to life was one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding experience. Seeing all those little details come together into something even better than I had imagined was pure magic. So grateful to @madsphere for bringing my vision to life and making the whole process so special. 🤍

Meet Our 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 Workshop Instructor Mads Davis Mads Davis (they/them) is a fiber artist whose work blends fashion, textile craft, and sustainable practice. Originally trained as a fashion designer at Savannah College of Art and Design (class of 2018), they moved to NYC and interned for brands including Telfar and Vaquera. Disenchanted with the rapid, unsustainable pace of the fashion industry, Davis turned to art-making as a slow, personal practice, a way to reimagine the craft they once idolized. Grounded in patternmaking and sewing, Davis combines tailoring techniques with textile work to explore themes of human connection, gender transition, and labor. Using deadstock, found, or donated fabrics and yarns, they actively combat textile waste. Their soft sculptures, called “Buddies,” are filled with shoddy, a recycled textile byproduct produced in Brooklyn, transforming discarded fibers into thoughtful, tactile forms. Date: September 20 Time: 6:00 PM–9:00 PM Location: Playground • 1114 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11216 Cost: $40 Capacity: 15 Mind Your Hem Do you have a favorite button-down shirt that is too long to wear? Or pants that drag on the ground when you walk in them? In this workshop, students will learn the very useful skill of hand sewing clothes to fit any body type. Each student may bring one shirt or pair of pants to practice cutting and hand stitching. You will leave with an altered piece of clothing that fits your body and style better, and the knowledge to hem other pieces in your wardrobe. This class is ideal for complete beginner sewists up to intermediates. Each student will try on the clothing item they brought, learn how to establish and calculate their desired hem length, trim excess fabric, press desired hem and stitch using a blind hem hand stitch. The instructor will be available for questions, live presentations, and sewing support. Follow their work at @madsphere

If you're new here, I am a personal stylist with a small styling business and I'm using my knowledge of styling bodies from all over the world to build a clothing brand that's actually creative, and as ethical as possible.
