Pineapple volleyball,
After years of confidence issues, a lack of opportunity, and many close-calls to giving up in the past, you gave me back the passion I have for volleyball. I remember my mom holding the tryout flyer and asking me, “Aubrey, did you want to try out?” I laughed at her and said “I would never make a team. There’s no point for you to pay for me to try out.” But she signed me up anyways, so I walked into the BSA gym shaking and on the verge of tears, and tried out. When I received the email where I was offered a spot on a team, a green team at that, I was shocked, nervous, anxious, and even a little doubtful. I fell in love so quickly, and I’m eternally thankful that I was given the opportunity to finally prove myself and have such amazing coaching. I will forever regret the times I said “I’m so tired, I don’t want to go to practice.” Or “This has been a long weekend, I’m glad to be home.” As I end my volleyball career, because I would do anything to be able to go back to the start. Thank you to my parents, Coach Walker, Coach Kass, Coach Justen, and all BSA staff for always believing in me, supporting me, and giving me such an amazing opportunity.
