🏕️ perfect view (a book ending that made you cry/tear up) - so many books fit this category honestly 😣

five star book tag 🌟though i’m fairly liberal with my 3 and 4 star ratings, i tend to be rather stingy with my 5 stars. a 5 star read for me is a book that i think about frequently, that influenced my thinking or imagination, and part of it has latched itself to my soul.

i saw @milliereadss do this tag & she has such great answers which made me start thinking of mine. and i miss doing og bookstagram tags so here we are :)

tagged a few buddies (like the good old days of 2023 lol) but anyone feel free to join in! 🤍

in honour of valentine’s day, here are some more lovely souls who bring me joy on bookstagram 💌

every day, i’m more and more grateful for this community. seeing everyone bond together in the wake of scary stuff happening in the world, talking about things that need to be talked about while also creating vibrant, cozy spaces is so beautiful.

i’m grateful you’re here! 💗

Melancholic, faint smoke, the metallic bite of rain on concrete, the dusty sweetness of old paper, it’s the kind of atmosphere Yi Sang makes you experience in this book. It’s unsettling, thought-provoking, and never comforting.

Despite being a slim book with just over 80 pages, it managed to hook me with its themes. The Wings is dense with allegories, ambiguity, and deeper themes that somehow dive into someone else’s mind. It’s chaotic, it yearns for something he keeps looking for, and it’s heavily psychological. Moreover, this book leaves you to your interpretations on whether his situation involves him thinking of “spreading his arms” as a sort of freedom, or suicidal intent, or just a fantasy he dreams of, or maybe all of it.

Just like a fragrance, it leaves a lingering trail—it’s cool, melancholic, and magnetic. It isn’t sweet or comforting but rather haunting in the way it leaves a mark in our memories. It’s unsettling and unforgettable. It would probably have notes such as citrus, bergamont, vetiver, and musk, it’s powerful but not overpowering.

— thank you @ecritetparfum for nudging me to connect literature and perfume 🤍🎐
