“GMOs are about controlling life rather than being in right relationship with life… and that’s the issue.” 🌿

Matariki Carr (Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa, Pākehā) is a lawyer, writer and activist from River Collective, who worked with Jessica Hutchings and Jo Smith to write the Mana Wāhine Indigenous Women’s Declaration for Soil and Seed.

In the second episode of Seeding Hope, @erinmatariki breaks down what the fight against GMOs is all about, the destruction of the ecological feminine mind, how the Māori legal system evolved from the whenua and the process of writing the declaration.

Seeding Hope is an Aotearoa-produced podcast, made in collaboration with @maearthstudio.

Across 10 episodes, it weaves together Indigenous knowledge with practical insights from a diverse group of Māori women leaders, including kai growers, environmental activists, deep thinkers, poets and healers.

The purpose of the podcast is to inspire all people around the world to stand up for seed and soil by signing the Mana Wāhine Indigenous Women’s Declaration.

Head to #linkinbio watch the first two episodes and sign the Declaration.
