🗣️ What’s Your Niche:

Honestly I don’t know. Most, if not all professional photographers will say you need to have a niche in photography, which can be true, but for me I’m honestly not sure. They’ll talk about, which lane of photography fuels you the most creatively? They’ll say which one are you best at? Which one is your favorite? What about least favorite? Honestly to me I just LOVE photography. I respect all forms. I think all of them matter, from the random pictures of wooded areas in the doctor’s office to the cover of Vogue/Essence, ALL OF IT MATTERS.

My favorite is probably Fashion/ Editorial Photography, but that one doesn’t pay me the best so it doesn’t check all my boxes for a Niche.

Wedding Photography, I’ve only done four weddings and a few engagement shoots so it’s not consistent enough for it to be a Niche.

Sports photography especially the new commitment/college visit photos that have been prominent, are one of my new favorites, especially since my practice has been my son. It’s been fun, I started working on graphics and I love how much I’m progressing and get to be creative as I want to.

Professional Headshots are a new love of mine, they are fun because it’s mostly directing, lighting, posing and boom. Most people don’t ask for too much and I actually really enjoy it.

Graduation Photography has probably been my bread and butter for YEARS, although I’m kind of working on phasing myself out, I still love it and it started my photography career but because that’s seasonal, it only accounts for a fourth of the year.

Point of my caption is, Photography is an art and it’s all about what you love and what does the most for you. Finding a niche is important but experimenting is also important, you never know what stepping outside of comfort zone can do for you.

Three of my favorite photos of all time that I always look at to keep myself motivated.

I want to thank everyone who has kept me going and been apart of my photography journey. I’ve been in a HUGE slump lately where at times I feel like giving up and putting the camera down, but then I remember through models like @keepingupwithajay_ @maemelanin @maleficentmeesh_ that I love what I do too much to stop.

"I need to see my own beauty and to continue to be reminded that I am enough, that I am worthy of love without effort, that I am beautiful, that the texture of my hair and that the shape of my curves, the size of my lips, the color of my skin, and the feelings that I have are all worthy and okay."
